Sunday's Thought!

"'Honor your father and mother' (this is the first commandment with a promise),
'that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.'"

- Ephesians 6:2-3 ESV

Mothers. These are such important people. As a friend said one time, without them, where would we all be? Nowhere. Good point.

I believe mothers have the most important job in the human race. They give birth and spend their lives raising the child. Also, it seems, that they continue throughout the life of their children, helping them learn or taking care of them, or offering advice sometimes even after they are married.

My mother passed away in 2011. She was a devout Christian with a strong faith in God. She taught my brother and me about God too. Whenever she was concerned about our faith, she never hesitated to ask us questions making sure we believed in God. Along with her faith, she was a painter, photographer, and an excellent cook. She did some beautiful artwork too. I remember my mother being a stay-at-home mom who dedicated her life to caring for my brother and me. It wasn't until when my brother and I were in high school that she took a part-time job but even at that, she was always there for us.

If my mother was still alive, we would celebrate the day with dinner and cards. She would be so happy that we came together to celebrate. Be sure to love your mother today whether it's an in-person celebration or a phone call across the country. She will love you for it and you will too.
