In the early days of my photography, I considered myself an "Artist Photographer." What that meant to me was that I photographed my subjects, mostly nature, as I saw them. I didn't know a lot of the skills which many photographers had. Also, some of my compositions were different than others might do!
At the time, I participated in many art exhibits, shows, and outdoor festivals. I was participating in several local art groups too. In one of the societies, I was selected to head the annual Photography Show which was usually held in July. I arranged the photographer who would judge the event and a few other odds and ends.
For that show, I entered my macro image titled "Grape Hyacinth!" Wouldn't you know, I got an "Honorable Mention!" The photographer who judged the show told me later that I would have gotten a better award if I weren't the one who arranged the show. I appreciated knowing that.
When I decided to begin sharing some of my older images in my early collection of Garden Perspectives, this one is one of my favorites.
