For many, this has been a difficult and challenging week. For me, it is hasn't been too much different than other weeks because I am not really a social guy unless my wife wants to do something then I will go. However, I have missed going to my Deep Water Aerobic classes and my dates with my wife during the week- we like to go to our favorite restaurant once a week and Chick-fil-A for breakfast on Saturday morning after doing some church work. Other than that, my week is usually filled with walking my dog and playing with my cat, writing, and some photography work here and there.
If you are like me, this is the perfect time to get caught up on those home projects you keep putting off, maybe catch up on some reading, call or send some emails to friends you haven't chatted with in a long time. I am trying to catch up on some of my magazine reading of Trains and Classic Trains, Bible reading, and do a few home projects.
One thing I am not doing is watching a lot of T.V. Having the T.V. on all the time and watching the news constantly with all the updates is a mistake. Why? Since the media likes to go on and on and on and on about a subject or beat one to death, now is a heydey for them. Who's got the latest? Who's got the best angle? All of that causes fear in many people. Yes, we need to keep up with the news because we are being instructed to do or not do certain things by the President and other government leaders. However, a constant diet of it will put fear and panic in you. Select a time to watch the news to be updated and turn it off.
For me, since I am a Christian. I believe and know that God is control of all of what is happening in our country, I am not afraid. I have nothing to be afraid of because I know God will take care of me as He promised. Now, because I live in this world, I may have to go through some things related to the virus, but, I still know that God is in control and it will turn out to His Plan which is the best for me.
The awesomeness of being a Christian is not only going to heaven when I die, among many things, is how God speaks to us through Scripture. A few of my favorite Scriptures for a time like this are-
"fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
- Isaiah 41:10
"When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul."
- Psalms 94:19
"for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."
- 2 Timothy 1:7
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
- Matthew 6:34
