Are You Safe from the Storms?
by Billy Graham

The ark built by Noah is a symbol of Jesus Christ. In this day, when the clouds of judgment are beginning to gather, Christ is the refuge. You must cross the threshold and pass into the ark. Accept Christ now as your Savior before it is too late.

Even if the world does not end in your lifetime in a cataclysmic judgment, the moment you die will be the end of the world for you. The world that you live in will die with you. Are you ready for death? Are you ready for the judgment that is to come the moment you step out into eternity?

Let Christ into your heart today. You can then be saved and be inside the ark. The storm of judgment can break out; but it will never touch you, because you are in Christ Jesus. And “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).

(Adapted from “Christ, the Ark of Safety” by Billy Graham)

Dear Lord, I confess that I need You more than words could ever express, and I repent for the ways I have drifted away from You. I choose now to follow You and to accept the eternal rescue in Your ark of salvation made available only through Jesus. In His Name. Amen.

Sunday's Thought

Thanksgiving. A day when Americans gather together with friends and family to give thanks for the many blessings that God has provided them over years.

As I look back this Thanksgiving season, I am amazed at the many blessings God provided over the years.  From the beginning of life, though I didn't always know or acknowledge it, He had me in His Hands.  He's always had His Hand on my life through everything I've gone through over the years whether in my career or finding my wife, or dealing with health issues, or life events, or helping me through caring for ill family members.  Everything that happened was God's Will and as they did, it was to guide me along the path He wanted me to go. When events happened, God was there to help me through- every time!

When I think of Thanksgiving and being thankful, I think of God's Love for me. I am extremely thankful God's gave His Only Son to die on a cross for my sins.  He did this, so that if I accepted Him as my Savior in my life, I would spend eternity in heaven with Him rather than hell. He did this for you too.  And all the people on the earth.

Sunday's Thought

"Sun Rays!"

What an incredible week this has been.  A week full of stress, upsets, strong emotions, fear, pain, and violence. It seems no one is really happy unless they get their way or what they want or at least close to it.  While getting your way or what you want might bring a temporary "happiness" it won't be long until something else comes up to change all that.

During the recent campaign and election season, I remember becoming a bit stressed.  Some of what I was seeing on television was very disappointing and worrisome.  While I have voted and watched many campaigns, this is the first one that I decided to quit watching as it was way too stressful.

However, I reminded myself, and so did a few of my buddies, that God is in control!  Regardless of whoever won the election, God will still be in charge and in control.  This fact will never change.  This fact brought overwhelming awesome comfort and peace to me easing away the stress and disappointment.

God's Peace and Love for us is way beyond our understanding but it is a Presence within our lives that is incredibly awesome and hard to explain as words often fail me when I attempt it.  Accepting Christ as my Savior, following Him and His Word brings His Love into my life which gives me the peace to live this crazy life and be worried about come what may.

Timeless Thursday! Walney's Fall

"Walney's Fall"
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved

I've had quite a bit of fun sharing my photos created at Walney Nature Center several years ago.  I moved west of the park, a pretty good distance, so its not exactly easy to pick up my camera, leash my dog and take off to the park to do some photography like it used to be.

I have to plan the trip around rush hour- either go there very early, which is better for lighting, or go late afternoon though that could cause me to get stuck in rush hour heading home.

I am exploring a few other areas closer to home where I can create awesome nature photos.

In the comments below, please share where your favorite local place to photograph is.......

A gift is a gift because it wasn’t earned. Imagine someone giving you a birthday gift and saying, “You earned this. You really worked hard at being born.” Of course not; that would be ridiculous. In the same way, God gives us the free gift of eternal life, not because we earned it. We couldn’t earn it in a billion lifetimes (Ephesians 2:9). It is only because God is good and pardons those who don’t deserve it that we are ever saved. This was only possible through God placing His wrath upon the sinless Jesus, Who didn’t deserve it.

The Bible teaches that salvation is a gift that cannot be earned. It is freely given to all who believe (Ephesians 2:8). Before we were saved, God had already prepared good works ahead of time for us to do, and these works must always glorify Him or they’re not works at all (Ephesians 2:10). We aren’t saved by good works but saved to do good works. That’s great news because if we had to earn our salvation by works, when would we ever know we did enough? The truth is, we could never do enough good works to save ourselves; but thankfully Jesus’ perfect life is imputed on our behalf (2 Corinthians 5:21).

The Apostle Peter reminds us that “you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19). He owns you and me, just as the Apostle Paul wrote, “You were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:20). God paid for your life with His own blood in Jesus.

“But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

We have a duty to share the good news that salvation is a free gift from God and that it cannot ever be earned, so we need not even try. But since we’ve become the property of Jesus Christ, Who redeemed or ransomed us from God’s wrath, we should feel compelled to do what He commands us to do. We do know that He commands us to go and preach the Gospel to all nations, teaching them the very same thing that Jesus taught His disciples (Matthew 28:19-20). We might not be able to go into all the world, but we can go next door.

Many people have been saved by walking the Roman Road through verses like Romans 6:23, which says, “But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord,” and other powerful verses that prove we can’t do anything good in ourselves (Romans 3:10-12) because none of us are good, our hearts are deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9), and we all fall far short of God’s infinite glory (Romans 3:23). That’s why grace is so amazing. He gives us what we don’t deserve (called grace) and doesn’t give us what we do deserve, like His wrath (called mercy).

Timeless Thursday! Splattering of Color

"Splattering Of Color"

One of my favorite aspects of Fall, is when I can capture images of the leaves in the midst of changing their color as in this photo.  It's intriguing to come upon leaves that are partially red or yellow and the rest is green.
