Be Prepared to Meet God
by Billy Graham

Amos the prophet saw the Day of Judgment fast approaching for Israel. He warned the people to prepare to meet God. The word preparedness should be a key word for everyone.

It is strange that we prepare for everything except meeting God. We prepare for marriage. We prepare for a career. We prepare for education.

But we do not prepare to meet God. Even though most Americans see the storm clouds gathering on the horizon, by and large we are making few preparations to meet God. This is a time for repentance and faith. It is a time for soul-searching, to see if our anchor holds.

Have you been to the cross where Christ shed His blood for your sins? Have you had the past forgiven? Have you come by faith, confessing that you are a sinner and receiving Christ as your Savior? I tell you that this cross is the only place of refuge in the midst of the storm of judgment that is fast approaching. Make sure of your relationship with God.

(From Billy Graham's article, "Prepare for Persecution")

Dear God, I want a relationship with You for all of eternity, and I acknowledge that it is possible only through the perfect life, death on the cross and resurrection of Jesus. I confess and repent of my sins. I ask for Your forgiveness, and I declare that I want to follow You as my Savior and Lord. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Friday's Foto! Watching the World

"Watching the World"
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved

Photographing dogs for clients is a passion of mine.  I enjoy meeting the dogs and learning what they have to say about their humans- can learn quite a bit that way.

In creating "Watching the World," the humans told me one of their dogs favorite places to hang out was on his pillow on top of a piece of furniture "watching the world" go by. While I can't promise to capture every image clients would like of their dog, I certainly do my best.

Timeless Thursday- Red Fall Colors

"Red Fall Colors"
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved
"Red Fall Colors" is one of my favorite images which I created while learning to love the Fall season.  What got my attention is the red leaves against the dark bark of the tree.  The day had been rainy which brought out the colors intensity.

The beauty of Fall's colors can be found as close as your own backyard or a local park.  While driving to the mountains can be an awesome trip, that's not always practical.  Go hiking or for a walk through a local park.  I captured this image near the parking lot of a golf course.

What unique places have been able to capture your favorite images? Please share in the comments below.

Dog Photography! "Weimaraner Perspective"

"Weimaraner Perspecive"
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved

When I go on a photography shoot whether its to support a local dog or cat rescue or for a client, I like to photograph the dogs from every perspective I see.

After learning about a client's dog and the photographs they would like to have, I will work to create images which will remind them of their beloved companion for many years to come.  Sometimes these are created at the pets home or a favorite local park. I will stay away from dog parks because there are too many distractions.

As I am photographing the dog, I will shoot from different angles being as creative as I'd like. If I think I've gotten some "artistically creative" images that I might want to share with the client, I will let them know so if our "tastes" don't match up, they won't think I am too crazy.

An excellent aspect of being creative while shooting is capturing something you enjoy and can do on other shoots.   Always remember, you can be as creative as you like as you can easily delete unwanted files.

"Whoever believes in the Son, has eternal life;
whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life,
but the wrath of God remains on him." - John 3:36 ESV

God has given us a wonderful gift-  His Son Jesus Christ and the gift of eternal life. All we have to do is accept His Gift of Salvation.

Photographing The Seasons: Fall's Coming

"Fall's Coming"
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved

Thanks to one of my friends, I've learned to see the beauty in the cooler season of Fall. Loving the Spring and Summer as I do, the Fall season meant colder weather was on its way and time to hibernate for 6 months!   It still does in some ways, but not as before.

I love to walk through the woods particularly a trail through Walney Park or at Great Falls National Park and capture the leaves changing colors for the season.  Sometimes, if you look closely, you see leaves in mid-change.

Friday's Foto! Coal Train Through West Virginia

"Coal Train Through West Virginia"
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved
I seem to be hooked on photographing trains here lately.  I think a lot of it is I have the time to take up my interest, photograph, and pay more attention to them.

The coal train is a symbol of my youth and days spent with my grandmother and grandfather in the small town of Marmet, WV.  My grandparents really didn't have much but they always had what they needed and were comfortable.

My brother and I weren't spoiled by them with lavish gifts, but with the treats of going to see them and seeing the trains.  A front porch faced the mainline of the B & O Railroad which provided quite a bit of fun for fun- sometimes even through the night- but, don't tell grandmother!

To share my interest in Railroad Photography and allow the purchase of prints should you be interested, please visit Allen Pearson's Photos.

Timeless Thursday: Purple Clematis

"Purple Clematis"
(C) Allen Pearson
Taken in the early days of my photography work using my Fuji "glorified" point and shoot.

While Clematis isn't necessarily one of my favorite flowers to grow, the colors, intrinsic detail of the flower always catches my attention.

Our Unchanging Father

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned.”

- 1 Corinthians 2:14

God made the mind of man. All true discoveries and all true knowledge in this world come from God. It is God’s Truth and we do not have to be afraid of it. But that doesn’t mean we are to casually stroll down the devil’s lane of godless philosophies.

God’s Truth doesn’t change like philosophies. Malachi 3:6a says, “For I am the Lord, I change not.” I don’t know whether that means anything to you, but it means an awful lot to me, dear friend.

The same God who loved us enough to put His Son on the cross two thousand years ago still loves us with that same love today. We don’t have to worry when we come to God in prayer that we might catch Him in a bad mood. Now, if that doesn’t start your motor, you don’t have one.

Rescue[d] Dog Photography

"Rescue[d] Dog Photography"
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved
In 2010 after adopting my dog Noah from PetConnect Rescue, I found myself wanting to use my photography skills to help other dogs find "Forever Homes."  At the time, I was an artist participating in many events but found myself not enjoying it- just not for me.

Not too long after Noah's adoption, his rescue "PetConnect Rescue" contacted me to photograph dogs for them.  I learned great photographs can help a dog get adopted faster.

From that date, I've been photographing dogs for rescues.

What is the hardest part of my work?  Not TAKING EVERY SINGLE DOG HOME WITH ME! It is very hard not to get attached but since I already have Noah, I could home another large dog.

What is the best part of my work?   When I learn that a dog or cat I photographed has been adopted and has a "Forever Home."  This is so great because it's the reason I photograph.
