Father's Day is a difficult day for me having lost my father as he passed away in the summer of 2014. He was a good man and was loved by many people.
One trait about my father that resonates with me this weekend was his way of saying, "let go and let God!" And, necessarily in those words but the meaning was the same.
My father was a Minister of Music in the Church of the Nazarene. He prayed about all the music he would lead in the Worship Service each week. It wasn't a matter of thumbing through some books to select songs and picking a few favorites and going from there. He prayed about it. He didn't ask the Pastor about it either. He prayed.
I remember a new Pastor coming to a church where Dad was the Minister of Music. Not too long after he arrived, he began picking the songs for the service so it would lead to his sermon. Although good and well fine, no harm was meant, it didn't set well with Dad. After a few weeks of so, the Pastor soon let my father select the music as he knew is was being prayed about. "Let Go and Let God!"
