Sunday's Thought

"For God So Loved the World, that He gave His only begotten Son
so that whosoever believeth in Him,
shall not perish but have everlasting life."- John 3:16

Probably the most famous or well-know Scripture in the Bible. A simple verse explains the truth of God's Salvation of man in just a few words.

Though I've heard often,it still just fathoms me at how God would love me that much to do this for me.  Does he know what I did a few minutes ago? Yes.  Does he know what I did last week?  Yes.  And, yes, to those crazy things I did as a kid growing up.

Truth is, He loves me despite me.  He knows me yet loves me anyway.

Years ago, the journey of His Love for me began by my asking God to forgive me of my sins and to come into my heart.  It took several years for me to understand His Love and forgiveness.  I still don't completely understand it all.  But, He doesn't expect me to do so.  Just believe in Him, trust in Him and repeat.  Ongoing and always. Now and forever.

I have never regretted the decision to follow Him, to become a Christian, to accept Him into my life.   There has been life's troubles and trials and headaches and pains- God has been with me through it all.  His Love, Comfort and Peace- each time and every time.

Are you interested in finding out more about Jesus, His Love and Salvation for you?  All you need to do is pray:

Admit that you are a sinner, just like everyone else born into this world, until we  confess to Jesus Christ and ask His forgiveness:

"[23] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
[24] and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus," -Romans 3:23-24, [ESV Study Bible]

"[23] For the wages of sin is death,
but the free gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
-Romans 6:23, [ESV Study Bible]

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ:

[16] “For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him should not perish
but have eternal life." -John 3:16 [ESV Study Bible]

Confess of your sins in a prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ:

[9] "because, if you confess with your mouth
that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved. "
- Romans 10:9 [ESV Study Bible]

[13] For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
 -Romans 10:13 [ESV Study Bible]

So now what?

If you prayed this prayer with your whole heart and believed what you did, you are now a Christian.  My suggestion is to find a local church and become involved.  Talk to the pastor about this experience and ask him to teach you where to go or what to do next.

If you are not familiar with a local church, a few excellent resources to get you started or who can follow up with you are:

In Touch Ministries, Dr. Charles Stanley, Atlanta, GA

Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Charlotte, NC

Turning Point, Dr. David Jeremiah, San Diego, CA

Centreville Baptist Church, Centreville, VA

These resources are ones that I believe in and you'll get assistance to grow- you can contact them by visiting, writing, email or phone.

May God bless you.

Friday's Foto: Garden Perspectives: Purple and Swan Cone Flowers

One of my favorite images created several years ago.  A mix of "Purple and Swan Cone Flowers" against an old fence.

The Swan Flowers were already planted in the yard when we moved in, I added the Purple Cones throughout the yard.  As the seasons went on, I found several of the Purple Cones throughout the yard that I didn't plant which were most likely planted by the many birds feasting in the yard.

Garden Perspectives: "White Cosmos"

"White Cosmos"

I have to admit.  I am a crazy man when it comes to being outside in the spring and summer and gardening.  To me, these are the necessities of a happy life.

At my previous house, I transformed the property from "blah" suburban yard to a beautiful landscaped property.  Part of the yard was a natural garden to feed wildlife, give them places to live and raise their young.

Around the house, including the front yard, was the "curb appeal" landscaping to enhance the house.

My favorite part of my gardening was my "outdoor" studio (where I took more naps than I wrote or worked on photography) and the "container garden".

Around the "outdoor studio" and in the "container garden" I planted unique plants that I liked which did not work in the natural garden.   By unique, I mean plants which were "new" to me or I'd never seen at the garden center before.

Hence, the "White Cosmos" came into the outdoor studio.  A simple beautiful flower, it gave me months of enjoyment.  The harsh winters in Virginia causes the plant to be an annual so it was replaced yearly.

Sunday's Thought

A July 4th Prayer

Prayer of Thanksgiving for Blessings

Heavenly Father, we come before you with servant hearts in humble thanksgiving for blessings given yet not always deserved.

For the blessing of life, the blessing of freedom, the blessing of hope.

That we live a life out loud, never perfect, but seeking
to be worthy of the life that was given.

That we have freedom to speak Your name openly, pray to Jesus openly, read Your Word anywhere, anytime.  Freedom to worship God in a church, or a house, in a jail cell, on a mountaintop, on a street corner, anywhere, anytime.

That we have hope, can see hope, in each new day.

That we live in a country where we have the freedom
to hope for more than we had yesterday.

Prayer for the Nation

For 239 years we have been a nation.

For much of that time we have looked to God to be our guide.

For many of those years we have struggled to let go of racial hatred.

For most of those years we have strived to be a nation
of compassion to other countries.

For some of those years we lost our way, but found it again.

And now we seem to stand on the edge of darkness, teetering, about to fall into the abyss.  But just as in the darkest times of our past, we stand on the verge of a great awakening.

In the past it was others who made the way, but now it is our time.

We are the ones who need to cry out, we are the ones who need to stand in the gap, we are the ones who need to come together as one voice and fall on our faces, our knees before our God, to humble ourselves, to seek His face, to turn from our evil ways, we must ask God to hear us from heaven, to forgive all our sins and ask for His mercy and grace and to bring healing to our land!
(2 Chronicles‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬)

Pray for a spiritual awakening,
become the spiritual awakening you are praying for.

In your Holy Name Father, we pray!
