Meet Kelsey

Dogs make great companions. If you've followed my writings for long, you know my passion for them. So, to say my work is going to the dogs, makes me very happy.

I had a great time photographing "Kelsey" last night for PetConnect Rescue, www.petconnectrescue.org. She is an older dog, sweet, gentle and fun to be around. She followed me around like I was a long lost friend. I like that trait in a dog.

After the photo shoot, I wanted to take her home with me but my dog, Noah, probably would not like it. That's the hard thing about photographing dogs, hard to not take them home!!

For information on adopting "Kelsey", contact www.petconnectrescue.org.

The Earthquake-

It happened so fast, sudden and oddly (strange, weird) that I really didn't know what was happening. Yes, I realize that sounds stupid or crazy, but I have lived in Northern Virginia where we've never had a 5.8 magnitude quake. Sure, we've had a few small ones, but small enough not to even know they happened.

This was different. I was sitting in my car at a park having my usual lunch break from the office when the quake hit. At first, I thought a friend, or coworker, was playing a joke on me by shaking the car- but I couldn't see anyone. But then the shaking got worse or stronger. I remembered thinking that only a really close friend would do this- my immediate next thought was that the car was possessed or needed some kind of repair. Got out, looked around and discovered others having the same concern(s). And, that it was an earthquake.

Upon returning to my office, I noticed several office building evacuated. Got to mine, and it was. We were outside awhile before going back in. I couldn't help but notice the fear in others and in their comments. Seemed to be a bit epidemic...fear and being afraid.

I didn't have fear nor was I afraid. A friend wasn't afraid or have any fear of another quake. What's in common? We both are Christians and have faith in God. Neither of us are perfect, but we have asked God for forgiveness of sins in our lives and are striving to live the way Christ would want. A continual growing and maturing thing going on. His forgiveness and love for us, gives us a calm peace that passes all understanding as we need it in our lives.

Ask Christ for forgiveness of your sins (not judging, just saying, because we are all born into sin and have to ask to be forgiven), and to come into your heart today. Now, you need to find a church home to serve God. Check around, their are many with different styles of worship and teaching.

I'll be praying for you.

Dogs. I find them to be one of the exciting and fun parts of life. Hey, I like my dog more than most people I have met. Cold? No, not really. It's just that I can depend on having a great time when I spend it with my dog Noah. We explore the world during walks, play fetch or tug-of-war in our backyard and go for rides to explore places we can't walk to. And, he's always happy. No matter what's happened in the day, he's happy.

Meet Rocket. He is a Husky/Shepherd mix. He's up for adoption at www.petconnectrescue.org. I met him last weekend while photographing for the rescue group. He seems like a sweet and fun dog. For info. on adoption and the process, go to their website. You may end up finding your best friend like I did!

And, if you can't adopt or foster, you could support PetConnect Rescue with financial donations or check out their list of needs and go by the local PetSmart or PetCo and buy stuff for them.

Clemantis Up Close

O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our maker. He is our God, we are the people He cares for, the flock for which He provides. Today we come listening for God's Voice. Psalm 100.

A Daisy

One of my favorite summer flowers is the Daisy. I've grown the Shasta Daisy in my yard and one of the dwarf varieties. I love the simplicity of the flower.
